South Capitol Santa Fe and the Don Gaspar Historical District is one of the most sought after areas to live in Santa Fe. Its is central to the Capitol, The Plaza, Canyon Road, and the Railyard where the farmers market is held each Saturday. It extends roughly south from the State Capitol, the northern boundary is Paseo de Peralta; the eastern boundary is the Old Santa Fe Trail; the southern boundary is Cordova, and the western boundary is Don Cubero.
The district is primarily residential, and was largely built in the early 1900’s. There are a few of the buildings, however, that date back to the late 1800’s. The mix of architectural styles in this area are a result of the railroad coming to Santa Fe and bring eastern influence to the architecture.
