Time to Roast Green Chili

Its that time of year where green chilies will be roasted all over Santa Fe. From the Saturday Farmers Market to Whole Foods to a parking lot at a shopping center on Cerrillos Rd. I prefer to get mine raw and roast them on the grill. You can buy them by the case at the local grocery store. There is nothing like a hatch green chili. Unless you like them red.

Halloween 2013

Ihalloweent was a frightful night in Santa Fe. Our South Capitol home was decorated and ready for the ghosts and goblins. Even before the sun went down the fire pit was lit, haunting music was playing, and several neighbors arrived to help pass out the goodies. The kids began to arrive, bags opened waiting to be filled. Tons of kids and 8 bags of candy later, the lights went out, the fire was doused, and the music ceased to play. I hope you can join us next year, we are planning on outdoing this year's event.

Fall in Santa Fe

img_0047It has been said that Fall in Santa Fe is the most beautiful time of year. The weather is changing and cool mornings and mild afternoons are here. The sky is blue and there are very few clouds. I can see the color in the mountains where the Aspens grow. I was walking back to my house in South Capitol and snapped this picture on Don Gaspar and Booth. If you have thought about a visit or to look for your next dream home in the "Land of Enchantment" now is the time for a visit or for a permanent stay like we did. I hope to get up Aspen Vista before all the color is gone.

Zozobra Fiesta

Ready to shed all the doom and gloom from last year and start anew?  The Burning of Zozobra is this week in Santa Fe.  Zozobra dates back to the 1920's when William Howard Shuster, Jr. created the first Zozobra. In the early 1960's Zozobra was entrusted to the Kiwanis Club of Santa Fe to carry on the tradition and they have ever since.  The over 50 foot puppet is full of shredded paper, which includes old police reports, paid-off mortgage papers, divorce papers, etc.

zozobraThe Burning of Zozobra will take place this Thursday, September 5th 2013 at Fort Marcy Park. Entertainment starts at 3:00 PM, official opening is at 7:00 PM

A “gloom box” is located near the stage, for those who wish to throw in mementos of their troubles before the show starts.

For more information and tickets to the event go to the event web site.

Santa Fe, A Dog Friendly City

Santa Fe is a dog friendly city. One of the many things my wife and I adore about Santa Fe is its love of dogs (and cats too). We took our two bulldogs to the dog park today and every time we do, I am reminded how lucky we are. There are over 10 different parks here in Santa Fe where dogs are allowed, most require the dog to be on Santa Fe a Dog Friendly Citya leash, however the crown jewel is the Frank Ortiz Dog Park where the dogs run free. This 80 acre dog park is a short distance from downtown Santa Fe. The park includes two parking lots, several benches, and trails to follow. The views are also breathtaking. Our four legged friends can also accompany us while we dine in the outdoor seating areas of several restaurants in town. I have seen dogs at CowgirlsLa Casa Sena, and 315 Restaurant and Wine Bar on several occasions. The entire family is welcome in Santa Fe so bring everyone along.
